Learning with Goldfinger - Saturday 4th January 2020

Led by Elain Harwwod

Brandlehow School, Brandlehow Road, London SW15 2ED

Brandlehow School (1950-1) was one of only two schools built in the UK by Erno Goldfinger.  It is GII listed and still remains its original floorplan, many original features and, after 70 years is a much loved working primary school.  There is also an award winning extension by Francesca Wagner, who has been working sympathetically on the school’s expansion for the past 13 years.

Ernö Goldfinger, the architect of Brandlehow School, was born in Hungary in 1902 and moved to the UK in the 1930s.  He built his own house at 2 Willow Road in Hampstead, and this is now in the care of the National Trust and open to the public.  He also designed Trellick Tower in West London, which is now a Grade II* listed building.

The event will consist of a tour of the school, followed by a talk by Elain Harwood, whose book on Erno Goldfinger is due to be published 2020/21.

Children at the school are welcome to attend, but must be accompanied by an adult.
