In Person: Changing Chelsea Lecture Presented by Paul Davis

Across three decades, Paul Davis’s two practices were responsible for over 50 projects along Sloane Street, The King’s Road and the 96 acres of the Cadogan estate in Chelsea. Through his experience of working with seven of the central London landed estates, he will discuss the impact of the change of strategy in the early 80s to proactive estate management across these now vibrant London villages.

Using the Cadogan estate as an example Paul will illustrate the change brought about in Chelsea including the 10-acre Duke of York campus, together with and over 30 buildings along Sloane Street. Working to understand the constraints and opportunities of conservation areas and listed buildings to rejuvenate an area whist retaining the memory of place. The benefits of new cultural amenities, as well as vibrant shopping, that have enhanced life in London.

Paul Davis studied architecture at Nottingham University and Kingston Polytechnic. Hiis first practice opened in1976 and later was architect for the Cadogan estate, He has been a Vice President of the Royal Institute of British Architects. His memoir Mr Chelsea will be for sale.
