Finish time/place: 1.30pm/ Blackpool Tower
A walk along Blackpool’s northern promenade led by Andrew Jackson with Allan Brodie (author of Blackpool’s Seaside Heritage). The walk takes in a variety of interwar seaside structures by the Borough Surveyor J. C. Robinson, such as the Grade II listed Cabin Lift (1930) and the recently restored Bispham Station (1932).
Lunch will be provided at Bispham Station and the current owners will talk about the restoration and conversion to a café.
After lunch the tour continues to Little Bispham Station (1935) and other 1930s curiosities, before returning to the town centre by tram. In addition to the work by Robinson, the walk will also feature a variety of shelters, artificial cliffs and a 1950s crazy golf course.
The event involves a couple of miles walking on flat ground with occasional ramps and steps.
The walk is designed to complement the inaugural ‘Seaside Heritage Network’ event at 2pm which can be booked Here.
Andrew Jackson is a C20 Trustee. Allan Brodie is based at Bournemouth University and is author of ‘Blackpool’s Seaside Heritage’ (2014).
