Place: Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 5-7 Lexham Gardens, London W8 5JJ. Nearest tube: Gloucester Road, approx. 10 minute walk

A tour of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Embassy led by Peter Elborn, followed by a talk by academic Maroje Mrduljas from Zagreb. The architecture of the former Yugoslav Embassy, completed in 1976, is closely connected to the socialist politics of Yugoslavia. Maroje will talk about the architectural responses to the emancipatory ideals of Yugoslav self-managed socialism. At the end of he event there will be a glass of wine.

Peter Elborn is Events Secretary for the British-Croatian Society and will be leading the C20 Society trip to Split, Croatia before this event.

Maroje Mrduljas is an academic and the author of books on architecture, including several relating to the architecture of socialist Yugoslavia. He has produced two highly popular television programmes in Croatia on neglected modernist architecture in the former Yugoslavia. He was a curator of the exhibition Toward a Concrete Utopia at MOMA, New York (2018/19)

This event is being held in association with the British-Croatian Society.

Access: steps up to the Embassy entrance. Talk will take place on the first floor via stairs with no lift.
