IN PERSON: Autumn Lecture Series 2024: Green Belt, Grey Belt and Brownfield: How the British housing crisis happened, and how to get over it
COMPLETE SERIES

Thursdays from 24 October to 28 November at 6.30pm

The Gallery, 70 Cowcross Street, London EC1M 6EJ

The complete series of the hybrid Autumn Lectures for 2024, which will focus on the British housing crisis happened, and how to get over it.

The housing crisis in Britain is nothing new, but the announcement of a serious government effort to act on it is. Our lecture series brings together a set of younger architects and planners to explain why things have gone so wrong, to unpick the complex constraints on building new houses to form communities and to see opportunities beyond the usual conventional answers.

Lectures will include:

24 October: 1. Co-Living in the Countryside by Charles Holland

31 October: 2. TBC. The original lecture has been postponed and a replacement lecture has yet to be announced. Anyone who has booked for the original lecture will be contacted when details of the new lecture are confirmed.

7 November: 3. The challenge of 21st century housing – a planner’s perspective by Hana Loftus

14 November: 4. Bringing Home the Marmalade by Jonny Anstead and Meredith Bowles

21 November: 5. 8,000 Mile Island and Other Stories by Peter Barber

28 November: 6. Towards a Suburban Renaissance by Russell Curtis
