C20 Architecture Slam

Saturday 25 January 2025 

Birmingham City University, Eastside Campus, Birmingham B4 7BD

10am to 4.30pm

A day of short presentations at Birmingham City University regarding 20th-century+ buildings and design from members, holidayers, academics alike.

This year will feature:

  • the Art Deco Fumoir bar, London;
  • Spaghetti Western film sets in Almeria, Expo site, Turkey;
  • The Pompidou Centre, Paris – still dividing opinion?
  • Fertilia, an Italian Fascist new town;
  • Three concrete sculptural walls by Antony Hollaway, 1961-1; and
  • INA-CASA housing and neighbourhoods in Florence built as part of Italian post-war neo rationalism

This is also a call by Katriona Byrne for proposals for slots on this annual event, which has been running since 2019. If you would like to do a presentation, please do email Katriona Byrne (Katriona.Byrne@bcu.ac.uk) and Devinder Matharu (davimath@hotmail.com).

Katriona Byrne is the Deputy Head of the School of Architecture and Design at Birmingham City University (BCU).
