End time/place: 4pm, High Glanau Manor, Five Trees Lane, Monmouth, NP25 4AD
Join C20 Cymru for an afternoon in Monmouthshire.
First we’ll be visiting The Savoy Theatre in Monmouth for a talk about 20th century theatres in Wales by Rob Firman.
Rob Firman is an architect who specialises in the design and delivery of theatres, concert halls, opera houses, and other places of public performance. He is also the author of The Theatres and Performance Buildings of South Wales.
In the afternoon, we’ll head to High Glanau Manor, the home of Henry Avray Tipping (1855-1933), architectural editor of Country Life magazine from 1907-1933. We’ll have a tour of the Arts and Crafts gardens, which have been lovingly restored by Helena Gerrish, followed by cream tea in the Dining Room.

12.00 - Talk about C20 theatres in Wales by Rob Firman
13.00 - A chance to grab lunch in Monmouth town centre, and make our way over to High Glanau Manor (Five Trees Lane, Monmouth, NP25 4AD) by 14:30. It is an approximately 10-minute drive from Monmouth to High Glanau, and transport will be provided for anyone who doesn’t have a car.
14.30 – Tour of the Arts and Crafts gardens at High Glanau followed by cream tea.
16.00 – End.
