Rescued 20th Century Buildings at Avoncroft Museum

Katriona Byrne will lead a morning visit to see the rescued 20th century buildings at England’s first Open-air Museum opening in 1967.
Highlights will include the best national example of the Aircon Mk V prefab, an Anderson’s air-raid shelter, a GRP church spire, an Airing shelter from a lunatic asylum, the Showman’s wagon, the Road-mender’s wagon and the National Telephone Kiosk Collection.
After the visit attendees will be free to roam around the rest of the museum until it closes at 3pm. There is a café at the museum which closes at 2.30pm.
Katriona Byrne is the Deputy Head of the School of Architecture and Design at Birmingham City University.
