In Person: Richard Neutra and the Making of the Lovell Health House, 1925-35 Book Launch
Wednesday 15 October 2025 at 6.30pm
The Gallery, 70 Cowcross Street, London, EC1M 6EJ
Join us to celebrate the launch of the new book Richard Neutra and the Making of the Lovell Health House, 1925‐35 edited by Edward Dimendberg and published by Lund Humphries.
Ingrid Schroder Chairs a panel of experts including Edward Dimendberg, Nicholas Olsberg, Alison Brooks and William Mann. The panel will discuss the House and its creation, as well as reflecting on how the innovations in its support of a healthy lifestyle, wellness, and engagement with the out of doors and community, both for adults and children, and the globalization of modern architecture, resonate in their own work. Each will draw on their own practice and experiences as the basis to consider the challenges, impasses, and opportunities discernible in the House and its legacy.
Edward Dimendberg is Professor of Humanities at the University of California, Irvine.
Nicholas Olsberg is a scholar, critic, and curator and was previously Director of the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montreal, and founding Head of Special Collections at the Getty Research Institute, California.
Alison Brooks is one of the UK's leading architects. Born and educated in Canada, she moved to London in 1988 and founded Alison Brooks Architects in 1996.
William Mann is a director of Witherford Watson Mann Architects (WWM), an award-winning practice noted for their work with existing buildings.
Ingrid Schroder is the director of the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. She was previously Head of Design Teaching and Director of the MPhil in Architecture and Urban Design at the University of Cambridge Department of Architecture.
