[online] High-Tech Dialogues: 4. Patty Hopkins (Hopkins Architects), interviewed by Samira Ahmed
Thursday 26 February at 6.30pm – 8pm
The lecture series features some of the leading lights of high-tech architecture recounting the decisive moments and landmark buildings in their careers. Organised by Geraint Franklin, and set to coincide with the publication of his new C20 book High-Tech Britain.
Architect Patty Hopkins will discuss two major projects with Samira Ahmed – Hopkins House and Glyndebourne Opera House. Following the discussion, Patty will take questions from the audience.
Patty Hopkins founded Hopkins Architects with Michael Hopkins in 1976. Together they designed and developed numerous inspirational and award-winning projects including the Schlumberger Cambridge Research Centre, the Mound Stand at Lord’s Cricket, Glyndebourne Opera House and Portcullis House. They were jointly awarded the RIBA Gold Medal in 1994.
Samira Ahmed is the C20 president, journalist, broadcaster and writer whose work explores the intersection of popular culture, heritage, art, science, politics and social change. She presents the BBC’s flagship arts and culture show ‘Front Row’ on Radio 4 and ‘Newswatch’ on BBC1. Her BFI Classic book on A Hard Day’s Night is due to be published by Bloomsbury in April 2026.
