Southbank at 75 – Architecture walk for LFA
Wednesday 10 June 2026
Start time/place: 18:00pm/Laurence Oliver Statue, Theatre Ave, SE1 9PX
Finish time/place: 19:30pm/Southbank area
Approx 1.5 hours, walking 1.5 km
Join popular C20 guide Philip Downer, as he explores the history and future of Southbank's architecture as a part of London Festival of Architecture 2026.
Since its opening, Southbank's somewhat harsh concrete landscape became a place for belonging to many, including the skateboarder community, which was pushed out from elsewhere in the city.
Learn more about the National Theatre, Royal Festival Hall, former IBM HQ as well as the newly listed Southbank Centre (Hayward Gallery, Purcell Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Undercroft skate space).
The capacity is limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Philip Downer runs sought-after walks for C20 and Highgate Cemetery. He runs a popular Instagram account @philip.downer.
