London Modernism Walk – August

Wednesday 12 August 2026

Start time/place: 6:30pm/Exmouth Market, corner of Rosebery Ave and Pine St, EC1R 3A

Finish time/place: 8:30pm/London Wall, EC2Y 5DN

Approx 2 hours, walking 4 km/2.5 miles

First run (sold out) – Second run (23 May) – Third Run (12 Aug)

Join us on the third run of our new outreach programme Architecture Style Walks. Five fun, engaging walks (Art Deco, Modernism, Brutalism, Postmodernism and High-Tech) will explore key buildings of each style in London. You’ll learn the context in which they were built and hear interesting facts and anecdotes you can share with your friends in the pub later. The walks are very much aimed at the general public and will be repeated several times a year.

Explore London’s Modernist architecture with architect and C20 Trustee Sarah Jackson. Starting at Exmouth Market, we'll hear about the Mount Pleasant Post Office before moving to see the Finsbury Health Centre, an icon of early British Modernism. Walking through a wild variety of estates, we’ll learn more about postwar planning before reaching the gold standard of postwar housing design – Golden Lane Estate. The tour will finish at the former Museum of London on London Wall.

Sarah Jackson is an architect, heritage consultant and C20 Trustee. She’s a Golden Key Academy alumni and runs walks for Open City.
