[online] Twentieth Century Seaside Architecture in Wales: pools, piers and pleasure
Wednesday 10 June 2026 at 6.30pm
This event is organised by C20 Cymru.
Take a trip along the nation’s seafronts with Dr Kathryn Ferry and find out how design trends including Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern and Brutalism, shaped our resort architecture between 1920 and 2000. With a particular focus on Welsh examples, this talk covers everything from hotels, lidos and entertainment pavilions to beach huts, amusement arcades and leisure centres.
Dr Kathryn Ferry is a historian and author who specialises in the architecture and culture of the British seaside. This talk is based on her most recent book Twentieth Century Seaside Architecture (2025) published by Batsford in conjunction with the C20 Society. Kathryn is Chair of the Seaside Heritage Network and regularly contributes to television, radio and podcasts.
