Portmeirion Weekend: A Centenary Celebration
Portmeirion Weekend: A Centenary Celebration
Fri 4 September to Sun 6 September 2026
Start time/place: 6pm/Dylan's Restaurant, Criccieth, LL52 0HU
Finish time/place: 2pm/TBC (Portmeirion or Porthmadog)
C20 Cymru are hosting a weekend event to celebrate the centenary of Portmeirion, the unique site designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. The village and resort sit on the dramatic North Walian coastline reflecting an Italianate style with its piazzas and pastel shades
This special visit celebrates the anniversary by exploring the history and architecture of this inspiring place. The weekend will be led by Rachel Hunt (collections curator at Plas Brondanw) and Dr Sarah Baylis, author of Portmeirion, The Architecture of Pleasure (Yale University Press, 2026), which has been released to mark the occasion and offers a fresh perspective, setting Clough’s village in a broader socio-historical context.
You can experience this for yourself as Sarah and Rachel join forces to welcome C20 to Portmeirion in September. The weekend will include dinner at the Williams-Ellis designed Dylan’s Restaurant in Criccieth and a visit to Plas Brondanw house and gardens, the architect’s own home.
