[online] 21st Century Architecture: STRATFORD WATERFRONT with Bob Allies (Allies and Morrison) and Eimear Hanratty (O'Donnell + Tuomey Architects)
Thursday 5 November 2026 at 6:30pm—7:45pm
Learn more about some of the best 21st-century architecture from the people who made it happen. We’ve paired leading architects and academics for themed lectures where they will present their work, before sitting down to discuss their individual approaches to similar projects.
The UK's largest cultural project in generations, this new neighbourhood at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will bring some of the world's leading cultural and educational institutions into East London. It brings together new venues for the London College of Fashion, the Victoria & Albert Museum, BBC Music and Sadler's Wells, as well as 600 new homes, retail and community spaces.
Bob Allies (Allies and Morrison) will present new buildings for London College of Fashion and BBC Music. While Eimear Hanratty (O'Donnell + Tuomey Architects) will talk about the designs of V&A East and Sadler’s Wells Dance Theatre. This will be followed by a conservation on the joys and pitfalls of working on such prestigious projects.
Bob Allies is the co-founder of Allies and Morrison. Bob has shaped many significant masterplans, from King’s Cross to London’s Olympic Legacy. He’s Professor of Architecture at the University of Bath and has recently been appointed to the role of Architect in Residence to the city of Bath and North-East Somerset. In 2016, he was awarded an OBE for services to architecture.
Eimear Hanratty is Associate Director at O'Donnell + Tuomey Architects. Eimear studied architecture in Dublin, Oslo and Beijing. She set up O+T’s office in London and has a keen interest in conservation and has worked on the extension and refurbishment of a Grade II Listed Lutyens building in London as well as a Grade I listed Nash building on the Mall, next to Buckingham Palace.
The series coincides with the new C20 book 100 21st Century Buildings (2026, Batsfords).
