SPRING LECTURE SERIES - PART 1: THE MODERN HOUSE SPRINGS BACK
The complete series of the first part of the Spring Lectures. The four lectures are about modern houses recently under new ownership and the work on refurbishment and restoration that has been undertaken.
1: Serge Chermayeff, New Haven, USA Lecture. Presented by Bruce Coldham. Thursday 17 February 2022 at 8pm
The architect Bruce Coldham will talk about the recent refurbishment of the house Serge Chermayeff (1900-1996) designed in 1962 for himself in New Haven, Connecticut.
2: High Sunderland, Selkirk Lecture. Presented by Matt Loader and Iain King. Thursday 3 March 2022 at 8pm
The architect Peter Womersley (1923-1993) designed High Sunderland near Selkirk, Scotland for textile designer Bernat Klein in 1955. The architects Matt Loader and Iain King will talk about the recent restoration.
3: Crystal Palace, Suffolk. Lecture. Presented by James Soane with Christopher Ash. Thursday 10 March 2022 8pm
The architect James Soane will talk about a 2014 refurbishment project for Crystal Palace. Formerly the Tracey House designed by Michael and Patty Hopkins completed 1978 in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
4: The Modern House &Three New Owners Lecture. Presented by Albert Hill and Matt Gibberd with guest panel. Thursday 17 March 2022 at 8pm.
The Modern House was founded by Albert Hill and Matt Gibberd in 2005. They will introduce us to some of their customers to hear about their experiences of upgrade and repair to their homes.
