Join Elain Harwood for the launch of her new book Brutalist Britain with a lecture and drinks at Acland Burghley School Hall. Elain will give a talk based on the book, which will be on sale at a special price
The Acland Burghley School is the only secondary school by Howell, Killick, Partridge & Amis, built in 1963-7, with a dramatic freestanding hall designed to hold the whole school.
Elain will give a talk based on the book, from the Smithsons to the late 1970s, looking at examples in the book and those she missed.
Elain Harwood is a historian with Historic England and a C20 regular
Directions – from Tufnell Park tube, cross the road junction and turn up Dartmouth Park Hill and the school is on the left. Turn left on to Burghley Road and the entrance is immediately on the right. The hall is the low building to your left.
