SOLD OUT - PoMo on Pedals a Bike Tour from Monument to Docklands..Sunday 30th August 2015

The development of Docklands and the hedonism of postmodernism go hand in hand, while (mainly) quiet roads and dockside paths make the bicycle the ideal way of exploring its rather scattered buildings.  The tour starts at the Monument at 1pm, and we expect to finish at London Bridge around 5pm.  We will see the St Katharine Docks, London Docks, Shadwell Basin, Isle of Dogs, the Blackwall Pumping Station by John Outram, Greenwich, Rotherhithe, Surrey Docks and Shad Thames.  There will be a variation on the tour if the lifts at the Greenwich foot tunnel are closed.

This tour has been designed so that it can be done by Boris Bike, with changeovers of bikes possible each half hour save at Greenwich - where the scheme has not yet reached.  Additional costs for those using Boris Bikes will be the £2 standard hire plus at least one additional £2 at this point.  The tour has been devised with safety in mind, and at a leisurely pace, but it is at participants' own risk.

The tour is led by Barnabas Calder and Elain Harwood
