A Hike Round Hale End (aka Highams Park)
A Hike Round Hale End (aka Highams Park) - Saturday 24th March
Led by John Goodier
This is the first of two walks in the Chingford area (second will take place on Saturday 30th June). Originally Highams Park was an estate and Hale End was a small village. With the coming of the railway Hale End developed into a small town, and it took up the classier name. It has several churches, shops, housing, schools, a cinema and a millennium clock! It was also home to the Xylonite factory. It is a chance to look round a small town that is predominantly twentieth century.
Meet time/place: 2.30pm outside Highams Park station eastside (trains to London side)
