Join Andrew Jackson for a jam-packed jaunt around the CH postcode, beginning on Friday afternoon with a walkabout in Chester city centre and visit to Storyhouse – the 1936 Odeon converted to an award-winning new cultural complex. In the evening there will be a talk on the work of Donald Insall in Chester.

The trip continues by coach on Saturday morning with visits to churches by F. X. Velarde and H. S. Goodhart-Rendel, followed by a look at Mold Civic Centre and lunch at Theatr Clwyd (R. W. Harvey, 1973-6). The afternoon takes in churches along the west side of the Wirral Peninsula - including examples by Giles and Adrian Gilbert Scott - and an early evening visit to a Modern Movement house of 1935 rounds off the day.

Sunday sees the coach stop at the churches of Chester’s suburbs before heading up the east coast of the Wirral to seaside apartment blocks, ventilation towers and housing estates - including works by Herbert Rowse and an afternoon stroll in W. H. Lever’s garden village at Port Sunlight.

The recommended hotel is Holiday Inn Express at Chester Racecourse and a discounted rate of £99 per night is available for 2nd and 3rd July if booked direct with the hotel between 17th May and 3rd June. Check-in is 2pm and the coach will depart outside the hotel each morning at 9am.

Places are limited to 25 people, therefore early booking is advised.
