The Twentieth Century Society

Campaigning for outstanding buildings

Peter Moro and Partners Lecture

Peter Moro and Partners Lecture

Thursday 14 October 2021 6.30pm Online

Alistair Fair will talk about the work of Peter Moro and Partners, linked to Alistair’s monograph in the C20 Twentieth Century Architects series to be published in September.

Peter Moro (1911-1998) designed the interior of the Royal Festival Hall, and followed by a number of Britain's finest post-war theatres, including Nottingham Playhouse, and Plymouth Theatre Royal. He also designed some exceptional houses, university buildings, schools, and council housing. Moro believed in a rigorous modern architecture which was both functionally sound and aesthetically rich. Alistair sheds new light on Moro’s important body of work, and enriches our understanding of the experience and diversity of modernism in Britain.

Alistair Fair is Reader in Architectural History at the University of Edinburgh and C20 casework committee member.

Members:  £4. Non-Members: £6.

We will send you a Zoom link by email after you book, which will enable you to “join” the event, and we’ll be using the Q&A function to take questions at the end. If you’ve not used Zoom before, clicking on the Zoom link will take you through the set-up process, hopefully simply and smoothly! You should receive an automated link within an hour of booking so please check your spam/junk emails if you haven't received this.
