Autumn Lecture Series: Mid-Century Modern 5 - West Africa Builds, Presented by Ola Uduku.

Ola Uduku, will talk about West Africa Builds ...mid-century modernism in Africa.  The work of London-based practices in Ghana and Nigeria specializing in schools and colleges, gave way to the growth of locally nurtured talent.

Her book, Learning Spaces in Africa: Critical Histories to 21st Century Challenges and Change (2020) traces the development of school building design, focusing on Western and Southern Africa, from its emergence in the 19th century to the present day.

Professor Ola Uduku is a leading historian of West Africa’s Mid-Century architecture and she is incoming Head of School and Chair in Architecture at the University of Liverpool.
