Battersea Power Station Tour
Saturday 14th October 2023
Start time/place: 10.30am/outside entrance to Battersea Underground Station
Finish time/place: 12.30pm/river front entrance to the main building
Described as one of central London’s largest, most eagerly anticipated new developments, and a long-standing C20 case, the £9bn scheme to repurpose the iconic Grade II* listed Battersea Power Station and its surrounding site which has been over 40 years in the making. The restoration of the main building by architect WilkinsonEyre and conservation architect Purcell is a notable achievement. C20 has recently called for the return of the listed cranes.
Carlos Finlay and Chunyi Sun will lead the tours.
Our tour will include the exterior of the building and interior parts open to the public. Control Room B is visible from the tour forming the back wall of a bar café. To take a closer look after the visit a table would need to be booked separately here. Control Room A is an events space and is not open. The chimney lift is not part of the visit but can be booked separately here. We will also look at the surrounding new buildings designed by Frank Gehry, Foster + Partners, Simpsonhaugh, and dRMM.
C20 Society Members: £ 15 Non-Members: £ 20
