In Person: C20 Summer Womersley Trip Revisited

On beautiful day in June, the C20 Society went to search out Peter Womersley's buildings in the Scottish Borders.

Now, six months later, John East and Neil Jackson reunite to tell the story of that trip – the award-winning 'See-Through' house, the newly restored Gala Fairydean football stand, the derelict Bernat Klein Studio, and the problems of navigating a coach down lanes which were too narrow and across a bridge which was closed for the day.

Peter Womersley's architecture will be brought alive by John's photographs, and Neil's commentary, based on his recent book, Peter Womersley – Liverpool University Press and C20 Society, 2023.

Neil Jackson is Professor Emeritus of Architecture, University of Liverpool, former Trustee of the C20 Society and Past-President of the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain.

John East is the unofficial photographer of the society and long-standing member of the society.
