Chichester

The Daring Decade - Saturday March 10th 2018 - FULLY BOOKED

Led by Nevil Hopkins

Modernism in Chichester is celebrated with a visit to the city’s four C20 listed buildings, all constructed in a hectic ten year period, mixed with candidates for future listing.  Join Nevil Hopkins for a guided "access all areas" tour at the Festival Theatre (Powell and Moya 1962), a special guided tour for the Society of the C20 art and architectural elements of Chichester Cathedral and we hope to welcome the original project architect of the newly listed County library (West Sussex County Architect 1967).  We have exclusive access to the last remaining domestic design in the city by Powell and Moya, and we will finish the day at the Pallant Gallery (Long and Kentish with Colin St John Wilson 2006)

Start at Festival Theatre, meet in the foyer at 10.25 (please note the foyer cafe will be open from 10.00) The theatre is a 20 minute walk from Chichester Station.

There will be a break for you to find lunch in the centre of Chichester. We hope to finish between 16.30 and 17.00 at the railway station.  Entry to the Pallant Gallery which closes at 17.00 is not included in the cost but if anyone wants to stay there after our visit, it will be near the end of the tour

Members £25.00   Non Members £30.00
