Sites of Memory - a War Memorial Walk compiled by Gavin Stamp, Joanne Moore and Jon Wright.  Led by Jon Wright
Sunday June 17th

In 2014, Gavin Stamp, together with Joanna Moore and Jon Wright, then of the War Memorials Trust, planned and led two war memorial walks to commemorate the centenary of the Great War.  In memory of Gavin Stamp, Jon will be repeating this Westminster walk using the notes they produced for the original tour and updating the walk to include some of the more recent memorials.

Beginning at Hyde Park Corner and ending at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, this walk takes in some of Westminster's key war memorials both from the aftermath of the Great War and ones dedicated more recently.  Monuments say as much about the living as they do about the commemorated dead and our hope is that by seeing a range of memorials, we will get a glimpse of how artistic responses to the tragedy of war have changed in the course of the 20th century.

Meet: Wellington Arch, Hyde Park Corner (Tube: Hyde Park Corner) at 10.30am

£10 for members  £15 non-members.
