A Taste of India – c20 trip planned for November 2019

The Gallery, 70 Cowcross Street, London EC1M 6EJ - Friday 29th June 6.30pm
A talk by Stuart Tappin

Structural engineer and C20 casework committee member Stuart Tappin has worked extensively in India and is putting together a tour for C20, which will take place in November 2019.  Stuart will outline the trip, which will start with a visit to the Islamic old Delhi.   Planned in the 1640s this will be a ‘compare and contrast’ to Lutyen’s New Delhi and Le Corbusier’s Chandigarh.  Days 3 and 4 of the trip will see buildings of Imperial Delhi and post-independence Dehli.  Days 5 and 6 will be spent in Chandigarh and include Nek Chand’s rock garden.  Days 7 and 8 will be spent in Ahmedabad.  There will be an optional extension to Mumbai.
This talk is for anyone who may be interested in the trip, but will also give an overview of 20th century architecture in India, so will be of interest to those not wishing to take up a place on the tour.

Members’ price:   £8.00  Non members:   £12.00   (to include a glass of Indian beer)
