The post-war estate, made iconic as one of the settings of A Clockwork Orange, is undergoing a £1.5bn regeneration by the housing association Peabody. Join Thaddeus Zupancic who runs the popular modernist architecture Instagram account @notreallyobsessive, for a tour of South Thamesmead. In association with the Twentieth Century Society and Peabody.

After meeting at Abbey Wood railway station (11.00am), we will first explore Lesnes and Southmere, which featured in both A Clockwork Orange and Beautiful Thing (plus hundreds of television series, adverts and video spots) and then hear from Ellen Halstead of Peabody about their plans for Thamesmead.  

This event is part of the photography display at RIBA, Thamesmead: A Town for the 21st Century, exploring past and present Thamesmead through archival images from the RIBA Collections and contemporary photographs by artist Nina Manandhar.

Please note that tickets for this event are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
