CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: EVENT POSTPONED Due to Coronavirus this event will NOT take place on 14 April —We hope to set a new date as soon as possible.  If you have a place booked we will be in touch by email.

Speakers: Catherine Croft, John East and Professor Neil Jackson

Focusing on two of the most ambitious trips the C20 has ever organised, our tours to Japan (September 2017) and India (November 2019), this talk will be a great introduction to the C20 architecture of both nations. We will be showing a selection of inspiring images of the stunning buildings we saw in both countries and considering similarities (such as those between Le Corbusier’s Museum of Western Art in Tokyo and Chandigarh) and differences in approach. The evening will also be an opportunity to reflect on C20 historical developments and conservation strategies in two very different sets of circumstances.

The Society’s “unofficial photographer” John East will be joined by our Director, Catherine Croft, who co-led the India trip and by Professor Neil Jackson, who took us to Japan and last year published his book, Japan and the West: An Architectural Dialogue.

Members’ price:  £8
