A Denman Century: the Work of Three Denmans, 1876-1982 Presented by David Robson

David Robson will survey the work of a three-generation family of architects, founded by Samuel Denman in Brighton in the mid-1870s, was continued by his son John-Leopold and his grandson John-Bluett until the early 1980s.
John-Leopold Denman (1882-1975). was the most talented and prolific of the three. His buildings include the Royal Masonic School at Rickmansworth, the Archive-Library of Canterbury Cathedral and Eridge Park, one of the last great country houses to be built in England. He designed about fifty pubs across Sussex as well fifteen churches. He was an honorary treasurer and vice-president of the RIBA and a founder-member and president of the Regency Society of Brighton.
David Robson is an architect and a former professor of architecture in the University of Brighton and the National University of Singapore. He is the author of monographs on the architects Geoffrey Bawa and C. Anjalendran.
