The canal walk itself is part of the pleasure, but we will be popping up to street level along the way to look at work by Ernö Goldfinger, James Stirling, Serge Chermayeff, a fine example of CWZG from the 1990s, the remaining fragments of Terry Farrell’s TVam, Nicholas Grimshaw’s Sainsbury’s (1988), Seifert’s surprising Pirate Castle (1977), a floating Chinese restaurant in chinoiserie style, and Lubetkin’s Priory Green flats It is uncertain at this point whether we shall go inside any buildings, but the exteriors will keep us entertained.
Alan Powers is a writer on twentieth century art and architecture, Camden resident for most of his life, and canal enthusiast.
