Fiona Fisher, curator of Dorich House Museum will lead a private tour of the former studio home of the Estonian sculptor Dora Gordine (1895-1991) designed by her and completed in 1936. She lived there with her husband the Hon. Richard Hare (1907-1966), a scholar of Russian art and literature.
The building was discussed in C20 Society’s Journal Twentieth Century Architecture 2, The Modern House Revisited pp 96-100, 1996, and is listed Grade II . Built to Gordine’s design, it is an exceptional example of a modern studio house created by a woman artist. The tour will focus on the design of Dorich House in relation to Gordine’s artistic practice and with reference to her earlier homes and workplaces, including her Paris studio-home 21 Rue du Belvédère, Boulogne-Billancourt (1928-29) designed by Auguste Perret.
After the tour of Dorich House we will proceed to the Town House, Penrhyn Road Campus designed by Grafton Architects and the 2021 Stirling prize winning building, for a guided tour and a café.

By Train & Bus: From Kingston station take bus 85 or K3 from Cromwell Road bus station. From Putney Station take bus 85 (direction Kingston). The stop for Dorich House Museum is Woodview Close.
By Car: The Museum is on Kingston Vale, close to Robin Hood Roundabout on the A3. From the A3 take the A308 exit, marked Kingston. Limited free parking onsite.
By Bicycle: Bike racks are located at the rear of the building.
