Out and About in Poole and Bournemouth Tour
Saturday 30 September 2023
Start time/place: 10.45 am/Poole Railway Station
Finish time/place: 6.15 pm/Poole Railway Station (about 30 minutes earlier at Bournemouth Railway Station)
*Please note there are national rail strikes planned for this day, so please take this into account before booking*
Caroline Martin and Penny Laughton will lead a tour exclusively for C20 members of buildings not seen in May's South Coast Weekender including a significant interwar modern movement house, a 1930s seaside estate and listed interwar and postwar churches.
In the morning of this coach trip we have access to an exceptional Grade II* listed modern movement house.
We then break for lunch with an optional walk around the Harbour Heights estate, Poole (1936, A J Seal & Partners). While there are local options for lunch, you may wish to bring your own, particularly if you are joining the Harbour Heights walk.
The afternoon starts with visits to a number of churches including St George’s, Oakdale (Grade II – 1959-60, Potter & Hare) and in Bournemouth, St Francis of Assisi, Charminster Road (Grade II – 1928-30, J Harold Gibbins).
For those travelling by train there will be the option to be dropped off at Bournemouth railway station before the coach returns to our morning pick up point of Poole railway station.
Sunday If you are staying overnight after the event the organisers have suggested some supplementary activities. Please contact andrew@c20society.org.uk for further details.
Caroline Martin and Penny Laughton are both members of C20 Society and have jointly led weekend trips in Stuttgart, Southampton and the South Coast. Penny has also led two walks in Clerkenwell.
C20 Members Only: £ 48 (Excludes Lunch)
